Music Book: "A Treasury of Gilbert & Sullivan" edited by Deems Taylor, illustrated by Lucille Corcos, arrangements by Dr. Albert Sirmay. Large 12" book in slip cover. Simon & Schuster 1941. 406p. The words and the music of 102 songs from 11 operettas including Trial by Jury, The Sorcerer, H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, Patience, Iolanthe, Princess Ida, The Mikado, Ruddigore, The Yeomen of the guard and The Gondoliers. Prior to each of the operetta sections is one of Miss Corcos' full color drawings depicting the operetta. These are absolutely magnificent. Dr. Sirmay explains that the piano arrangements contained in this volume are completely new, derived exclusively from the original piano scores, published in London during the composer's lifetime. A great book in great condition. $60.00

This is an advertising book, "compliments of your Three Feathers Dealer." 72p book includes instructions for a dozen games; recipes for 20 drinks, everything from a Feathers Freezer and Carioca to a Horse's Neck and Merry Widow; and the words & music to about 80 songs, from good standards to some a little scarcer. Could not find date but code number leads us to believe it could be circa. 1939. $20.00

Music Book: Folk Dances. Two mimeographed manuals, probably over 100 pages total, believe both are produced by the West Virginia Cooperative Extension Service. Would guess circa 1940s, maybe earlier. Words & music to most of the songs which include polkas, schottisches, Russian, Polish, Danish dances, West Virginia reels, southern songs, mixers, a folk dance dictionary, circle games, etc. Rather informal, but probably some stuff here you may not find anywhere else if you're looking for old country dancing. $50.00

Music Book: "The Chocolate Soldier," an opera bouffe in three acts. Music by Oscar Straus. 1908. 198p The scene for this opera takes place in Bulgaria 1885 and is built around the love affair of Nadina, the daughter of Col. Popoff of the Bulgarian Army and Lieut. Bumerli, a young Swiss officer attached to the Servian forces who were fighting the Bulgarians (based on the George Bernard Shaw comedy). Full color cover of the two major players. Cover has some slight wear & dirt stains. $5.00
