Alf Landon: Alfred M. Landon Collection. Series of 14 signed letters from Topeka, KS, Dec 27, 1935 to Apr 4, 1938, each addressed to Washington, DC news correspondent James Williams. Includes 13 TLS and a 3-page handwritten letter in Landon's penmanship. Some written as Governor of Kansas. Includes personal commentary plus frequent observations on the politics of the period, e.g. 1935 letter mentioning rumors that Republican Party wants Landon to run in 1936, promotion of longer terms for U.S. Representatives and some less than supportive remarks about the President (FDR). Condition of all letters very good; most include original envelopes.
