Scientific & Mechanical Instruments: Alarm Box Safe. Iron box w/handle. 11-1/2" x 9" x 6". Lid opens to show 3-section tin tray, each section capable of holding paper money flat. Below the tray is an alarm system connected to a brass "ball" in the floor of the box. If the box is lifted, ball will set off alarm. Needs some work & battery to get it operational. Made by Trusty Alarm Safe Co., N.Y. Probably later 19th Century. 10 lbs.

Corrington for the Bausch & Comb Optical Co. Nice, heavy instrument.

Scientific & Mechanical Instruments: The Handy New Kalkometer. Boasted as the "practical adding machine that everyone can afford!" Has tin housing, 5-1/2" x 3-1/4" designed to fit in the palm of your hand. Instructions sheet & suede or leather carrier included. You use a stylus (not included) to move the columns, being able to add or subtract figures up to 99,999,999. To reset the "machine" pull the clearing bar quickly up until zeros appear in all answer windows, then replace. Definitely pre-calculator. Undated but marked "made in USA" which means something. Never have seen one of these before.
